Halona, an American Indian doll by Patti LaValley

Meet Halona,
which means "Good Fortune" in Navajo.

Halona is 15" tall. Her body is brown cotton fabric and her face is painted with water color pencils and sealed. Her fingers are mitt hands with stitched fingers for detail.

I have spent a great deal of time on her costume and great attention to detail was taken in creating it. Her dress is a beautiful indigo blue velvet, hand sequined and beaded across the front and down the sleeves, which are trimmed with sequins, beads and turquoise pieces. She wears leather boots with bead trim as well. Her skirt is very full and she has a petticoat of Indian print cotton that holds the skirt out nicely.

Halona has black yarn hair tied in the back and hand beaded trim around her face. Her earrings are silver feathers with bead accents, and her belt is a concho which is laced together with beads. Her necklace is seed beads on leather backing with peyote stitch chain.
