GAYHEART
the
GARDENING GRANNY

This 22" doll is inspired by my second passion in life, gardening. I hope to be still out in my garden doing what I love when I am 80 years old! The techniques were inspired by Susana Oroyan?s Designing the Doll book. She proudly stands in her garden holding a small basket of flowers, seeds and veggies with her articulated hands. She is never without her watering can!

Gayheart has a knit 'skin' over soft sculpted head that creates her wrinkles. her features are painted with acrylics over gesso and sealed. Her body and limbs are of cotton fabric and painted to match her skin. Gayheart has painted-on green boots with leather trim and tube socks. Vintage fabrics and eyelet laces were used for her dress, bloomers, apron and hat. Her hair is unraveled sweater yarn.
